My name is Dr. Sadiq Siddiqui and I am working as an Associate Specialist Cardiothoracic Surgeon at University Hospital Galway, where I pioneered contributions to minimally invasive cardiac surgery. With a foundational MBBS (2003, Karachi), FCPS (Surgery, 2010), and MRCS (RCSI, 2012), I hold full registration with the Irish Medical Council.
I spearheaded Ireland’s first endoscopic vein and radial artery harvest for coronary artery bypass grafting—a landmark in national cardiac surgical technique. This initiative significantly improved patient outcomes by reducing wound infections from 7% to 0%, while enhancing postoperative cosmesis and mobility. This innovation earned my team the prestigious HSE Excellence Award for Innovation in Service Delivery (2024).
I have co-authored a histological study demonstrating that endoscopic conduit harvesting preserves vessel structural integrity, affirming the technique’s safety and efficacy in CABG procedures.
As a valued member of UHG’s cardiothoracic team, I collaborate closely with consultants in advancing minimally invasive surgical care across the west of Ireland. My work sits at the intersection of surgical excellence, innovation, and patient-centred outcomes—underscoring my commitment to elevating cardiac care through evidence-based practice and technique advancement.
