Lorena Montes, MD

Dr. Lorena Montes is an attending Cardiovascular surgeon in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Medical Leader of the Center of Excellence for Myocardial Revascularization at the Fundación Cardiovascular de Colombia (Hospital Internacional de Colombia) in Bucaramanga, Colombia. She is also Cardiac Senior Editor at CTSNet. She holds leadership positions at LACES (Latin America Association of Cardiac and Endovascular Surgery) where she is president elect (2026-2028) and The Colombian Society of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery (member of the board). She is especially active in her areas of expertise and research: Complex Coronary Surgery, Mechanical Circulatory Support as well as Inclusion, Diversity and Equity, being former Chair of the Women in Cardiac Surgery Committee at LACES and former Co-chair of International Affairs at WTS.
