Upon retirement from the USAF in 2014 I completed my BSN from the University of Arkansas for Medical Science. I then began working as an operating room nurse with St Vincent’s Infirmary in Little Rock, Arkansas. Shortly after, I was accepted to Vanderbilt University’s Perfusion Program and graduated two years later earning my CCP in 2019. Since then, my wife Amber and I, along with our 3 young children (Violet, Gibson, & Hazel), moved to our new home in northern Kentucky.
Initially, I began training in minimally invasive mitral valve surgery with Dr. Petracek and Dr. Clements as a student at Vanderbilt. This experience helped to jumpstart my relationship with Dr. Castillo-Sang since we began working together in 2020. I find the work we do here in the minimally invasive arena to be truly fascinating and I am privileged to be a part of this wonderful heart-team!
Outside of cardiac surgery I get to do and enjoy many things. From being a Dance-Dad to family BBQ’s and camping with my brothers and son. I also enjoy traveling the country and seeing new and different places. However, at the end of the day I have a passion for listening to and playing music. I am an avid guitarist and amateur collector of high-end American Made guitars and instruments.
