Giulio Pellegrini, MD

Dr. Giulio Pellegrini is a fifth-year resident in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Florence, currently completing his clinical training at the Ospedale del Cuore in Massa. He graduated with honors from the University of Rome Tor Vergata, with a thesis on the biomechanical and histomorphological properties of the ascending aortic wall in patients undergoing surgical repair. To date, he has been involved in more than 800 cardiac surgical procedures, including approximately 50 as first operator in standard open techniques. He has also gained focused experience in minimally invasive and endoscopic cardiac surgery, contributing to the growing field of less invasive approaches. Dr. Pellegrini’s academic profile includes several peer-reviewed publications and international oral presentations, particularly in the areas of aortic pathology, valve repair, and hybrid arch procedures. He has co-authored original research papers and book chapters and is actively involved in ongoing studies on innovative surgical strategies. His academic activities are complemented by teaching experience as a lecturer in cardiac and pulmonary semiotics, ECG interpretation, and basic ultrasound techniques. He has completed advanced training courses in cadaveric anatomy and critical care ultrasonography. Clinically, he is proficient in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, and in data analysis using R and Stata. He also serves as a peer reviewer for journals such as Journal of Thoracic Disease and Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine.
