Giacomo Bianchi, MD, PhD

Dr. Giacomo Bianchi is a cardiac surgeon at Ospedale del Cuore – Fondazione Toscana “G. Monasterio” in Massa, Italy, where he has been working since 2005 as Resident and from 2010 as Staff Surgeon. He specializes in minimally invasive valve surgery and congenital heart disease repair, with particular expertise in endoscopic approaches. He hold a professional appointment for the Development of Endoscopic Cardiac Surgery and Mechanical Circulatory support.
Dr. Bianchi completed his cardiac surgery specialization at the University of Florence and his PhD in Translational Medicine at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa. His international training includes fellowships at the University of Maryland’s Artificial Organs Lab and observerships at prestigious European centers including Charitè Hospital Berlin and Bad Oeynhausen Herzentrum.
With hundreds of minimally invasive interventions as lead surgeon, Dr. Bianchi has developed significant expertise in endoscopic valve repair techniques. His surgical activity encompasses complex mitral and tricuspid valve repairs, aortic valve replacements and multivalvular disease, and congenital heart defect corrections through minimally invasive approaches.
As a recognized in endoscopic cardiac surgery, Dr. Bianchi has delivered numerous invited lectures at international conferences, including the EACTS Annual Meeting, ISMICS, ASAIO, Focus Valve and Endoscopic Cardiac Surgeons Club Meeting. He has published extensively on minimally invasive techniques, with contributions to the advancement of endoscopic approaches for mitral and tricuspid valve repairs, complex congenital heart disease and cardiac tumors.
