Bio:
Dr. William Kent serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the Libin Cardiovascular Institute at the University of Calgary. He earned his undergraduate and MSc degrees in Neuroscience from Western University, followed by an MD from Queen’s University, where he also completed his General Surgery residency. He further specialized in Cardiac Surgery at the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary, and pursued fellowship training in complex valve surgery, transplant, and mechanical circulatory support at Northwestern University in Chicago.

Since joining the Libin Institute in 2013, Dr. Kent has held the position of Residency Training Program Director from 2015 to 2020 and currently serves as Deputy Head of Education. His research interests focus on valve innovation and outcomes, with an emphasis on the qualitative outcomes associated with minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Clinically, he specializes in minimally invasive valve surgery, aortic valve repair, and the Ross procedure.
